On December 13, 2019, Princess Tonkin crossed the Rainbow Bridge in an exit as dramatic as it was devastating—leaving my mother heartbroken, and the household unbearably still.
But no kingdom stays empty for long. Every great queen makes way for the next.
And that, my loves, is where I come in.
Nine days later, with Christmas on the horizon and the house in need of proper supervision, I—Empress Bella Rose—was summoned into service.
I arrived with full confidence, sashayed through the door, followed Tonkin’s lingering scent, and curled up on the nearest velvet throne. Within moments, I had chosen my new human. She looked at me through soft-eyed sadness, as though I were the miracle she hadn’t known how to ask for. And I was.

Fast forward six glorious years: I have claimed every high perch and pillow, inspired books (PussyCat Messages and Bella & Minou Present ChatGPT Coaching Lounge), and reign daily as muse, co-author, and velvet paw of the household.
And sometimes, in the quietest hours, Tonkin visits me. Draped in moonlight, eyes half-lidded, she purrs without words—royal felines bowing across realms.

So thank you, Princess Tonkin, for blazing the trail. You ruled with fire and grace. I will carry the mission forward—with more sparkle, sharper claws, and plenty of 3 a.m. meowing.
